There are simple steps you can take as a property owner to ensure your investment is warm, dry, safe, and profitable throughout the winter.
- Remove exterior water hoses and cap the spigots with insulated covers.
- Have a home energy efficiency audit performed by a licensed professional. If you find areas of cold air intrusion, prior to repairs, place rolled or folded towels along the base of doors and windows to insulate against cold air drafts.
- Trim bush and plant branches away from the edges of sidewalks and driveways, making sure snow, ice, and water does not drip or fall on to paths used by occupants.
- Have your roof inspected.
- Place potted plants or decorations away from walkways.
